#5 Mount Vernon Bike Trail
Our most popular bike hike and the one we love to recommend is the trip to scenic Mount Vernon!

Description
This is a paved 18 mile bike path (one way) that starts in DC. Mount Vernon, George Washington's plantation, is at the southern end of the trail. The view of the potomac river from the estate is considered one of the finest. You can lock your bikes in their rack and visit the estate. (admission fee applies)

This trail passes through Alexandria (18th century port with many Georgian style buildings), Ronald Reagan Airport, the George Washington Memorial Parkway, Sailing Marinas and Fort Hunt Park. The section that passes through Alexandria will follow public roads and then becomes a paved path to Mount Vernon.
